چکیده

We have grown LaMnO3 thin films on 001 LaAlO3 substrates by pulsed laser deposition. X-ray diffraction confirms that the films are only slightly relaxed and are oriented “square on square” relative to the substrate. The measured Raman spectra closely resemble that observed in bulk LaMnO3, which indicates no relevant distortions of the MnO6 octahedra induced by the epitaxial strain. Therefore, no detectable changes in the lattice dynamics occurred in our LaMnO3 strained films relative to the bulk case. Mn nuclear magnetic resonance identifies the presence of localized Mn4+ states. Superconducting quantum interference device magnetization measures TN=131 3 K and a saturation moment =1.09 B /Mn, revealing a small concentration of Mn 4+ and placing our films within the antiferromagnetic insulating phase. © 2006 American Institute of Physics. Dependence of Magnetic Properties on Laser Ablation Conditions for Epitaxial La_{0.6}Sr_{0.4}MnO_{3} Thin Films Grown by Pulsed Laser Deposition

Epitaxial La0:6Sr0:4MnO3 (LSMO) thin films were grown by pulsed laser deposition. Relationships between magnetic properties of LSMO epitaxial thin films and ablation conditions such as ablated spot area and total incident laser energy in a pulsed laser deposition technique were studied. Ablated spot area was controlled by changing the focus lens position and total laser energy. Epitaxial growth...

Temperature Dependent Cathodoluminescence Characterization of Ultraviolet Emitting Films Grown by Pulsed Laser Deposition

Strontium sulfide (SrS) is known to have an indirect bandgap of ~ 4.32 eV. When doped with tellurium (Te), ultraviolet emission occurs at 360 nm (for Tes singlet) and 400nm (for TesTes dimers) due to radiative recombination from bound exciton states. In this paper we discuss the ultraviolet emission of pulsed laser deposited thin films of SrS:Te grown as SrS-Te and SrSTe-SrS multi-layer structu...

Characterization of nanostructured SnO2 thin film coated by Ag nanoparticles

Nanostructured SnO2 thin films were prepared using Electron Beam-Physical Vapor Deposition (EB-PVD) technique. Then Ag nanoparticles synthesized by laser-pulsed ablation were sprayed on the films. In order to form a homogenous coated of SnO2 on the glass surface, it was thermally treated at 500°C for 1 h. At this stage, the combined layer on the substrate was completely dried for 8 h in the air...

Characterization of ZnO Thin Films Grown on c-Sapphire by Pulsed Laser Deposition as Templates for Regrowth of ZnO by Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition

The use of ZnO template layers grown Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) has been seen to produce dramatic improvements in the surface morphology, crystallographic quality and optical properties of ZnO layers grown on c-sapphire substrates by Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition. This paper provides complementary details on the PLD-grown ZnO template properties.
